About SolarSelectBot 🤖
If you found this page in your server logs — hello! SolarSelectBot is the crawler behind solarselect.ie, a free directory that helps Irish homeowners compare SEAI-registered solar installers.
What it collects
A small number of public pages from solar installer websites — typically the homepage plus product/services pages — to record publicly stated facts: which hardware brands you fit, the services you offer, county coverage, and any prices you publish. Nothing personal, nothing behind a login. Each fact on our site links back to the page it came from.
How it behaves
- Obeys robots.txt, including
Crawl-delay. - Rate-limited: at least 4 seconds between requests to the same host, usually only a handful of pages per site.
- Caches for 7 days — we re-read pages at most weekly, not on every visit to our site.
- Skips images, fonts and media — we only read text.
- Identifies itself honestly:

Run an installer and want your listing corrected, updated or removed? Email the contact address in our user-agent string (it's sent with every request we make) and we'll sort it quickly. We'd rather fix data than argue about it.
